Nationals Recap

CVA mogul skiers were in the hunt for national titles as the Sprint U.S. Freestyle Championships converged on Squaw Valley in California, March 27-29. The action kicked off Friday with men's and women's moguls where Alison DiGravio competed in her fourth national championship along with fellow teammate Troy Tully who is making his third appearance at Freestyle Championships. DiGravio and Tully were joined at the top of the mogul course by CVA alumni and US Ski Team members Dave DiGravio ’05 and Jeremy Cota ’07.

Coming off a second place finish at Junior Olympics one week earlier, Alison DiGravio battled down the Squaw Valley Championship course in women’s single moguls against members of the U.S. Ski Team and turned in the second best score of a non ski team member, tenth overall. In men’s single moguls Dave DiGravio, returning this season after knee surgery last year, earned sixth place from the judges and NorAm overall champion, Jeremy Cota placed 10th.

In dual moguls Troy Tully battled back after a tough singles day by laying down a great qualifying run and ending up12th losing in the round of 16. Jeremy Cota’ 07 finished 4th just missing a podium spot to National Champion Bryon Wilson and Dave Digravio finished 6th losing in the round of eight with the crash of the day. Alison DiGravio had a tough break running early and just missed finals by one place finishing 17th.
